Super Blower SBF282-5 Extraction System

Installation of the Super Blower SBF282-5 Extraction System at Staircraft’s Ansty Manufacturing Facility

Project Overview

Case Study: Installation of the Super Blower SBF282-5 Extraction System at Staircraft’s Ansty Manufacturing Facility

Project Overview

At its new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Ansty near Coventry, Staircraft required a high-capacity, energy-efficient extraction solution to support increased production volumes and maintain best-in-class environmental performance.

To meet this requirement, Indusvent, designed and installed a Super Blower SBF282-5 extraction system rated at 120,000 m³/hr. This installation represents the 8th Super Blower system delivered by Indusvent across the Staircraft Group, reinforcing a long-standing and trusted partnership.

The Challenge

The new facility was designed to significantly expand production capacity, requiring:

  • High-volume dust and waste extraction across multiple process lines
  • Reliable system performance during continuous operation
  • Safe handling of combustible wood waste
  • Efficient material transfer to on-site biomass storage
  • Flexible waste management via trailer loading
  • Compliance with environmental and safety regulations

The system needed to integrate seamlessly into a modern, high-throughput manufacturing environment while supporting sustainability objectives.

The Solution

Super Blower SBF282-5 (120,000 m³/hr)

At the core of the installation is the Super Blower SBF282-5, engineered to deliver:

  • Airflow capacity of 120,000 m³/hr
  • High-efficiency dust capture
  • Reduced energy consumption compared to conventional extraction systems
  • Optimised fan and filtration performance

The system ensures consistent extraction across all connected woodworking machinery, maintaining clean air within the facility and protecting both equipment and personnel.

Advanced Waste Handling System

A standout feature of the project is the unique vertical scraper conveyor system, designed to optimise material transfer and storage.

Key components include:

  • Vertical scraper conveyor transporting collected waste
  • Direct feed into an on-site biomass storage silo
  • Integrated pneumatic waste transfer system
  • Dual trailer loading capability

This dual-path waste management solution allows Staircraft to:

  • Store biomass for energy recovery
  • Divert surplus waste pneumatically to two trailers for off-site processing
  • Maintain operational continuity during peak production

The flexibility of this configuration ensures uninterrupted extraction performance, even during trailer changeovers or high waste generation periods.

  1. Fire Prevention & Safety Integration

Working alongside GreCon, the system incorporates advanced fire detection and prevention measures to mitigate the risk associated with combustible dust extraction systems.

Safety integration includes:

  • Spark detection within ductwork
  • Automatic suppression systems
  • Monitoring systems aligned with woodworking industry best practice

This collaboration ensured the system met stringent fire safety standards while maintaining operational efficiency.
